FaceBook – Leaving Home Without It

I deleted the FaceBook and Messenger app off my iPhone. Now, this may not seem like such a bid ta-do for some, but for those of us who have shockingly realized our unnatural addiction to technology, it means something. I come from a generation that had no technology, initially – I miss that very much… Anyway, I thought I’d experience some razor sharp backlash effect, but instead I’ve experienced a calming relief and more time in my day!

I got the idea after I started reading “Belong” by Radha Agrawal. I highly recommend this book to find your tribe, find yourself and connect to a more fulfilling life. It has answered many things since my thriving in life journey began.

The deletion of both apps happened yesterday morning. Throughout the day, I felt freer and more in the present moment (I had forgotten what that felt like). My thoughts, no longer anticipating what I’d find on FB, were coming back to my brain…it was letting go of that conditioned response mode and the anticipation, thereof – major relief!

In hindsight, I was always on FB: morning before school, breaks, lunchtime, after work, while sitting at longer than usual stop lights (I totally justified it because of this lol) and in any room I happened to be in at home – somebody slap me! I began carrying my friggin’ phone around the house with me…ball & chain – nooooooooo, free me!

Confession: when I got home yesterday after work, I added it back – but only to check in on the FB dating app. I checked my messages from semi-interested male prospects, then deleted my dating profile. Afterwards, I again deleted the FB app from my phone.

Moving forward: I am allowing myself a limited amount of time to be on FaceBook at home on my PC. Probably morning and then evening. In today’s world, you kinda need to be on there when  you’re a budding artist and author or any other kind of entrepreneur.

Technology is a useful tool, but it is not healthy when it becomes a way of life.

In summary, I’m happy to get more in touch with myself and be more in the present moment. My brain is calming down and thinking more creatively…thinking more about what I want to do with the unexpected, surprising success I am having with my Kelli’s Klay classes – this new journey has begun! 🙂

How many of you have changed the game and put technology in its place? I’d love to hear about your experiences!
